1910 Print Avalanche Willis Way Amphitheater Carbon Glacier Snow Cap Summit XGN1 XGF5 This is an original 1898This is an original 1910 duotone halftone print of an avalanche falling on Willis Wall at the head of the great Amphitheater of Carbon Glacier. The cliff goes up to the Snow Cap which is visible on the Summit and is more than 4,000 feet high and nearly perpendicular. The amphitheater is what is called a glacial cirque and is a horseshoe shaped basin elaborated by the ice from a deep gash that existed originally in the Volcano's side. Photography by
